Ahanta West: Agona-Fie SDA embarks on weeding exercise to promote sanitation in the Municipality.

The Agona-Fie Seventh-day Adventist Church of the Agona East District of SDA has engaged in a mass weeding exercise aimed at ensuring and promoting cleanliness and sanitation in the Municipality.

On Sunday, January 12, 2020, the leadership and members of the Church joyfully thronged the premises of the Assembly and weeded the stretch from the Court to the WERBA House area and a small portion in front of the post office building. The Seventh-day Adventist Church Worldwide is observing ten (10) days of fasting and prayer, and as part of activities marking the ten days, the church planned to embark on Sunday’s weeding exercise.

Speaking to Chrisdaily, Elder George Yankey noted that the church prays for Ghana as well as those in need, prisoners, the poor and also seeks for the well-being of all persons.

In General Conference’s time-based plans, tens days are set aside at the beginning of every new year for fasting and prayers. We pray for Ghana, the sick, those in need and tribulations, even as we seek the face of God.

He, however, called on all the seven (7) SDA churches in Agona Nkwanta and the other denominations to join them the next time a similar activity is organized. The district pastor of the Kikam District of SDA, Pastor Ebenezer Ackah-Annor stated that God cherishes neatness and wants His children to live healthily, hence it behoved on the church to undertake the weeding exercise.

…that’s the reason for today’s activity as part of our ten days of fasting and prayer so that as we build ourselves spiritually, we equally prepare ourselves physically to achieve a holistic service to God, he added.

According to Pastor Ackah-Annor, the main objective of the ten days of fasting and prayer is to get the power of the Holy Spirit and work with the Word of God.

Many think that the SDA church does not pray as others do but that is not true so I invite all to join any nearby SDA church every evening. God has been powerful because the sick are being healed, those having spiritual problems are being freed, the Kikam District Pastor stated unequivocally.

He admonished all to live evangelistic lives.

TEN DAYS OF PRAYER

The Seventh-day Adventist Church worldwide, from its General Conference to all local churches allocate ten days to pray and fast at the beginning of every new year.This year, the Ten Days of Prayer started on Wednesday, January 8 and would end on Saturday, January 18, 2020. The theme for this year is “Seeking God’s Spirit,” which invite church members to experience the promised blessings of the Holy Spirit as Jesus Christ promised in Acts 1:8.
