Ahanta West GNAT Demands Change of Promotion Exams Venue

Executives of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region are demanding for a change of the promotion exams venue from the Wiawso and Enchi Colleges of Education to a venue in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis.

They feel the treatment given to the affected teachers is “wicked” because the venue is too far, adding that “the General Secretary of GNAT, the National President of GNAT and the Regional Secretariat of GNAT are in the known of this inhumane treatment.”

GNAT executives in the said Municipality are therefore asking all affected teachers to remain calm as efforts are being made to find a lasting solution to the challenge.

UPDATE ON THE AHANTA WEST PROMOTION EXAMS CENTRES

Colleagues,

The Ahanta West GNAT is doing everything humanly possible to get a redress to the treatment being meted out to over 70 % of our Teachers who are being asked to get their exams written at Wiawso and Enchi Colleges of Education.

We feel it is wicked to ask teachers to travel for 5 hours thereof to such areas the previous day, look for a place on their own to sleep to enable them write the exams at 8am on the 20th February, 2020.

We demand a change in venue to the Sekondi Takoradi metropolis to enable us write our exams.

The General Secretary of GNAT, the National President of GNAT and the Regional Secretariat of GNAT are in the known of this inhumane treatment.

A number of pragmatic efforts are being made to find a solution to this challenge.

A while ago, I spoke with the Hon. Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, Hon. Kojo Kum to report same.
He promised getting back to me after making a few calls.

On behalf of the Municipal GNAT Executive, I wish to ask all affected teachers to remain calm as we take the necessary steps to find a lasting solution to the challenge.

We will not renege on our quest to demand better treatment for our teachers.

Promotion to the next grade in the GES is an incentive package and must not be drown with this kind of unnecessary frustrations.

Long Live Ahanta West GNAT!

Long Live GNAT National !!

Solidarity forever.

Signed

RICHARD HOENYEFIA BONI
AHANTA WEST GNAT CHAIRMAN.
