Lawyer Ebenezer Kojo Kum, the Member of Parliament for Ahanta West has appealed to the people of Upper and Lower Dixcove traditional area to smoke the peace pipe and unite for development. He also called on Rev John Earnest Kwofie, National Peace Council Board chairman for the Western Region to step in and ensure unity prevails between the two Chiefs.
“Let us not allow ourselves to be divided by chieftaincy disputes because we are one people”, he said.
Speaking at the launch of the 30th anniversary celebration of the enstoolment of Owanwani Kwesi Agyeman IX, Paramount Chief of Lower Dixcove Traditional Council at Odwenase Palace, Lawyer Kojo Kum said Dixcove is blessed because the Holy Bible appeared first in Dixcove so a blessed community should not be in conflict.
Lawyer Kum also noted that Dixcove and Ahanta in general is blessed with great men of God like Bishop Brace who is the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church for the Sekondi Diocese and Bishop Bonaventure Kwofie who is also the Bishop of the Archdiocese of Accra for the Roman Catholic Church.
“From the speech of Nana Agyeman, you can see that he’s ready for peace and reconciliation. I will be very happy to see Dixcove’s conflict resolved before 2021”, he said.
