COVID19: Asasetre Tertiary Students’ Union donates face masks to Asasetre community

The Asasetre Tertiary Students’ Union (ATSU) has embarked on a mass donation of face and nose masks to the Asasetre community in the Ellembelle district of the Western Region.

The locally manufactured masks were distributed to residents and market women in the community.

The kind gesture, according to the Union, was necessitated by the directive on mandatory wearing of face masks by the government and health officials, a move they say would go a long way to cushion the community to stay safe and comply with all safety etiquettes.

Among other items, the students deployed their skills in soap making to produce liquid soaps to be distributed to all residents of the community.

To ensure effective use of the items donated, members of the community were sensitized and educated on how to use the masks and the need to strictly adhere to the safety and precautionary measures.

Meanwhile, the elders, opinion leaders and community members took the opportunity to express and exude their gratitude and joy to the group for the timely gesture, adding that they would make judicious use of the items.

Currently, Ghana’s COVID19 case count stands at 5,530 with a total number of 674 recoveries and 24 deaths.
