Ahanta West: “We need our regional hospital” – Concerned Citizen petitions Prez Akufo-Addo

Dear Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

On Wednesday, 22nd July 2020, you cut the sod for the construction of the 70 million euro, 600-bed Eastern Regional Hospital. Phase One of this new hospital project will involve the construction of a two hundred and eighty-five (285) bed facility, out of the total capacity of six hundred (600) beds. Once fully completed, it will be fitted with the requisite teaching and learning facilities, and will position the Eastern Region on the right side of the healthcare map of our country.

His Execellency, with all due respect, as soon as possible, approve ours (Western Regional Hospital) for it to be constructed.

His Execellency, Western Region urgently needs this Regional Hospital. As you have been informed, the Efia Nkwanta Hospital does not meet the standard of a Regional Hospital, as persons with serious or complicated health problems need to be always transferred to the first class Hospital in the capital Cities before they get to normalcy.

On many occasions, some have died in the process of transportation due to the long distance between Western and the capital Regions. Mr. President, had we had our own standard Regional Hospital, this unfortunate incidence wouldn’t have happened.

Mr. President, as proposed by our Traditional leaders, Member of Parliament, Hon Lawyer Ebenezer Kojo Kum, Municipal Chief Executive, Mary Henrietta Eyison and other stakeholders in Ahanta West to site this Hospital in our Municipality, accept this proposal if you are about to decide. If you have already done so, as soon as possible, approve for the sod cutting to be done so that the contractor can start the project.

Mr. President, Ahanta West has been loyal and faithful to the elephant family since the 90s. Mr. President, there’s this say in Akan that goes, “Nyimpa y3 adze aaaa )see ndaase”. We have waited for the moment for this great elephant family to established a mega project like this in return as “thank you” for our loyalty and faithfulness. We believe this is the moment. Mr. President, it should not be tomorrow. It shouldn’t be other project. It must be this day. It must be this project.

Notwithstanding, the strategic location of our Municipal will be the best location for the Regional Hospital. Geographically, Ahanta West is in the middle of all the constituencies in the Region. Mr. President, citing this Hospital here will make it easier and more convenient for all persons in the constituencies surrounding our Municipal to access it.

Mr. President, with the above reasons, I plead with you to locate the new Western Regional Hospital in Ahanta West. Also, the project must be started as soon as possible.

I count on your usual cooperation, His Execellency.

By,

John Beyebuwoo Yankey
