A nongovernmental organization, School of Thoughts, has embarked on an educative campaign in the North East region of Ghana ahead of the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).

In a collaboration with the Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (CoHBS) in the West Mamprusi Municipality, a ten-day extensive tour dubbed, “The Campaign for Excellence” was initiated to sensitize the candidates who have few weeks to prepare and sit for their final exams.

A total of thirteen (13) schools and over 500 students in the Walewale township benefited from the SOT’s edutour.

Text books and other educational materials were donated to schools including the Ebenezer Presby JHS, Walewale Model Girls’ JHS, Brilliant Superstars Academy and the Kinkandina community.

According to the founder of the organization, Mr. Abraham Agoni, his team is optimistic and poised to reach over a thousand BECE candidates by the end the tour.

For him, there is a dying need to bridge the educational gap between the rural and urban areas by improving quality of education in areas such as reading and writing, debate and public speaking, problem solving, among others.

About School of Thoughts

School of Thoughts Ghana is an NGO founded by a University of Ghana student to bridge the educational gap between rural and Urban areas. It focuses on improving the quality of education in areas such as reading and writing, Debate and Public speaking, Problem solving, Talent and Leadership development and a general knowledge orientation of the world of academia.

It has since its establishment been able to train students in Walewale (North East Region) to attend the annual Lifelink Model United Nations conference in Accra, five of which were given honorary awards.

It also has to its credit, the organization of an educational summit for students which was STARTRIGHT SUMMIT, held in November, 2019. The program witnessed over 200 students, teachers and parents showing their support.

The initiative was also recognized in a social venture challenge in Boston, USA in 2019 as one of the best project of that should be executed.

The founder, Abraham Agoni, has been committed to contributing his quota to the development of his community, solely sourcing for funds and other forms of support for the organization’s activities.
