Go For a Visionary Leader – KNUST Student Counsels Colleagues At UMaT

I do not understand why a partial engineering Institution like University of Ghana, Legon is on Tullow scholarship scheme but UMaT, a full-time engineering Institution is not a beneficiary of the scholarship scheme.

It is interesting to note that a student offered Dondology receives Ghc10,000.00 plus every year, yet an Engineering student from UMaT does not get even a pesewa from this engineering company, including other scholarship schemes UMaT is not on!

Have you wanted to find out the reason? Do you agree you can change the narrative? ? If Yes, then continue reading…

I DO NOT WANT TO BE SELFISH

My name is Joseph Assafuah, a first year student reading Bsc. Petroleum Engineering at KNUST.

When I gained admission, my parents did not have money to pay my fees so they took a loan from a bank to pay for my admission and accommodation fees.

After paying, I was still in absolute discombobulation because I always thought about how they were going to get money to pay for my next academic year fees.

During the first semester of my first year in school, I saw a communiqué by a UMaT student called Mr. John B. Yankey, who was earnestly searching for students in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis and its environs who applied for Tullow scholarship to enrol them on the scholarship scheme.

Fortunately for me, my name was part of the shortlisted applicants, to be interviewed. I began to have some faith he could be of help as he (Mr. Yankey) told me.

He interrogated me to know if I really am from Apremdo as I claimed, so my father confirmed that to him. He told me not to worry because he is in charge and will lobby to give me scholarship.

Few months ago, I received an award letter from Tullow that I have successfully qualified for their scholarship, so I am going to receive Ghc10,000 plus from them every year.

Here is my letter from Tullow.

Good things, they say, shouldn’t be left gone just like that; opportunity, they say, comes but once.

Upon my little investigations about Mr. Yankey, he has the links to push for a lot for the benefit of all.

My dear colleague students, give him the nod as the SRC PRESIDENT of UMaT because he has many success stories for you all, and he’s poised to raising UMaT’s name to the ultimate.

A friend of mine at UMaT called Abraham Nsiah, MA2 is one of the scores of students Mr. Yankey lobbied GNPC scholarship for last two years. To him, he would have been in the house but for the timely intervention of Mr. John B. Yankey, through the scholarship.

I strongly believe with the SRC Presidential platform, he can integrate all those opportunities for the entire students populace to benefit; it might not be scholarship per se but something different or extraordinary which will benefit the entire students populace.

Go for a leader every society needs.
Go for a visionary leader!

Change the narratives now!!!

Mano esii!
