The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in partnership with the National Fire and Rescue Service held a one day sensitization exercise on fire prevention at the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly Hall.
The main goal of the sensitization is to reduce disaster risk through awareness creation at all levels in the society.
Considering the positive feedback received, NADMO plans to continue the sensitization activities not only in institutions but also in communities, to ensure that no one is left behind in the efforts to make Ahanta West more resilient to fire.
Assistant Municipal Fire Officer, Frank Assiama Yankah, called on the staff of the Assembly to change their attitude on how they use electrical gadget during his presentation. He indicated that, without a change in attitude, effort by NADMO and FIRE SERVICE will remain unsuccessful. He educated the staff on the “DOs and Don’ts” of fire prevention.
In brief remarks by the Deputy coordinating Director, Alhaji Haruna Sumana, urged the staff of the Assembly to take the sensitization serious and stay away from activities that are likely to cause fire outbreaks in the offices and their various homes.
