General Secretary of All People’s Congress (APC), Mr Mordecai Thiombono Lompo has alleged that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) gave political parties that have supported the compilation of the new voters’ register GH¢ 2,000.00 each at the recent IPAC meeting which was held on Thursday, January 30, 2020.
He said most of these minority parties that the NPP has been able to lure financially are friends of the APC party, adding that what he is saying is factual because everyone saw it.
It is factual because we saw it, there’s no document about it.
It is not a hidden agenda, those who received it we are aware of them, he said matter-of-factly.
In an interview with Adomba, host of Ogya Morning Delight, on Agona Nkwanta based Ogya FM Thursday morning, Mr Thiombono Lompo registered his displeasure at how every activity in Ghana is politicized, admitting that politicisation of activities in Ghana is why Ghana is not progressing.
Our worry is that why must we keep politicizing every activity in Ghana?
That is why Ghana is not progressing, he bewrayed.
Background
The Electoral Commission (EC) held a meeting with the Advisory Committee of Eminent Persons and the Interparty Advisory Committee (IPAC) to find common ground on the upcoming compilation of a new voters roll.
The biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and some smaller political parties are fiercely opposed to the decision by the election management board – the EC, to conduct this year’s general election with a new voters register.
The Advisory Committee called the meeting to help the key stakeholders to agree on the forward but those for and against a new register appeared to have stuck to their hardline positions.
