The Ahanta West Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Henrietta Mary Eyison has debunked rumours making rounds that she aspires to contest in the NPP primaries in the Municipality.
Barely three years into office, the MCE is certain that the President will sack her should she embark on such a quest.
Highlighting a portion of the New Patriotic Party’s Constitution and an order from the President, Hon Henrietta Eyison bewrayed that an MMDCE who wishes to contest for a parliamentary seat must resign three (3) years ahead of the contest, adding that all MMDCEs in Ghana, precluding Constituencies that have incumbent NDC Members of Parliament, cannot contest in the Parliamentary primaries slated for April 25, 2020.
She made all these known on Friday, January 31, 2020 in an interview with Ngosraba Ekow Yankey, host of Ogya FM’s Ogya Morning Delight (OMD).
I am content with what the President gave me, so I’m working hard to make my people pleased,” she opined.
According to her, the MCE position is not insignificant, showing that there are other posts aside being a Member of Parliament, so even if the President had not given that order, “I wouldn’t plan to contest as an MP for Ahanta West.”
Heretofore, two aspirants – Hon Lawyer Ebenezer Kojo Kum, the current MP and Hon Kwesi Biney – have declared their intentions to contest for the Parliamentary seat for the NPP in the Ahanta West Constituency.
