The Deputy Trade and Industry Minister, Hon. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, has charged the Ahanta West Member of Parliament, Municipal Chief Executive and Constituency Executives to collectively work together to develop Ahanta. He said the MP is better placed to lobby for projects, thus, one mistake the MCE should not make is to bypass the MP and independently fight for a project.
“We should let the tripod system work,” Hon. Ahenkorah added.
Speaking as the special guest of honour and a representative of the President at the inauguration of newly elected members of the Ahanta West Assembly in Agona Nkwanta on Thursday morning, Mr. Ahenkorah pleaded with traditional leaders to make some conscious efforts to maintain lands for industrial use. He told the chiefs to consider the development of business hubs in the Municipality and make lands available.
Touching on the One District, One Factory initiative by the government, he revealed that if Ahanta West has not gotten any factory, it is because there has not been any promoter, adding that land availability plays a major role.

Hon. Henrietta Mary Eyison, the Ahanta West MCE maintained that development is a shared responsibility for central government, local government, non-governmental organizations and the people who are the ultimate beneficiaries of development. She stressed that her door is always open for any assembly member to approach her and make his suggestions and contributions.

The Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, Hon. Lawyer Ebenezer Kojo Kum said that being an assembly member is a call to service so the new members should focus on a service to Ahanta. He also cited unity as the tool they should work with to develop the Assembly.
At the 8th Ahanta West Assembly inauguration, Nana Ngyatoku IV, chief of Damtse called on the Assembly members to reason with their chiefs and communities.

The newly sworn-in assembly members took three oaths which were administered to them by His Worship Emmanuel Kwame Boadu, the Ahanta West District Court Magistrate.
Mr. Benjamin Afful, CEO, Ahantaman Rural Bank Limited chaired the Ceremony. Other past presiding members, the clergy, and security personnel were at the ceremony.
