The inauguration of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) has been scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 2020 in all district capitals across the country.
The programmes are expected to commence at 9:00am and 2:00pm for the morning and afternoon sessions, respectively. All Regional Ministers have been directed to ensure that MMDAs in their jurisdiction are well prepared for this ceremony. The inaugural speech by President Nana Akufo-Addo will be forwarded to them as such, so they can prepare ahead of the ceremony.
“Following the successful completion of the District Level Elections (DLEs), held on 17th December, 2019 and pursuant to Section (3) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936),” it has become necessary for this all important program to take place.
