GES apologizes to stranded participants of a training workshop over improper organization.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has, in a press release, apologized to all participants who attended the training workshop for teachers of the core subjects over the poor organization of training programme.

The Management said it has noted with serious concern, issues about the improper and irregular organization and administration of the ongoing training programme for teachers of the core subjects in Senior High Schools.

It would be recalled that the over 2,000 teachers invited by GES for the workshop were left stranded and unattended to at the University of Ghana but in a press release signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo – Head of the Service’s Public Relations Unit, the Ghana Education Service says it accepts full responsibility for the Inadequacies and wishes to sincerely apologize to all participants, teachers and the general public for the unfortunate development.

GES additionally said necessary steps have been taken and Management can assure the teachers and the general public that the initial challenges encountered at the various training centers have been resolved and the training programs are running smoothly.

“Management assures all and sundry that this will never reoccur,” the release, dated 15th January, 2020, concluded.

The 4-day training workshop for the teachers is to help them gain mastery of their respective subjects, especially the difficult topics in the syllabus. As part of the Ministry of Education’s plans and efforts to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the wake of Free SHS and the Double Track System, this workshop would also make the teachers be prepared to teach their students well.
